Hey people, Logan back here with another UCC Rowing article, this time on the John Bennett Regatta we attended from May 3 to May 4. It was very VERY fun, and I had a very good time.

The first day when we arrived, we had to set our boats up and get prepared to race. This took a bit of time, mainly because there were many boats to setup and at times it was very meticulous. After though, we got to head back to the hotel to drop our bags off and go get some dinner.

Food:

I went with a few of my friends to Jim’s Steakout, a “Low-key sandwich chain serving hoagies, burgers & wraps, plus poutine & other sides.” Let me tell, you the taste was not low-key. It was absolutely amazing. Seriously, I have no idea how subs could taste that good. It was warm, filling, and the most comforting food i’ve probably ever had. Maybe it’s just the “American amount” of grease in the food, but it. was. amazing.

THE RACE:

Time for the race now. I was racing a “4+”: a four person boat with a coxswain (me!). It was a pretty cold day, so I layered up. Luckily I did because I was getting very wet from the waves coming from the wind. I got third place in mine, which was pretty cool because the rowers in my boat were actually lightweights, and we were racing against heavyweight rowers. It was pretty funny, I was yelling at them so hard I started cramping haha.

Next Up, The Mother’s Day Regatta! GO BLUES!!
