Every other Saturday of the year, the Avenue is usually a simple walkway bridging the Upper School to the Prep. But on Saturday, September 26th, it became so much more than that: the centerpiece of our community’s annual celebration. After 198 years as a school, growth is inevitable. Beyond our student body, our institution has acquired an incredible breadth of clubs, teams, and extracurriculars, which were all on full display for Association Day.

First, there was football—and a lot of it to say the least. On the American side of the game, JV won convincingly against St.Andrews College. Led by quarterback Edan Rozin, the team orchestrated 4 touchdown, securing a 28-7 victory over the Saints. Varsity was the highlight of the day for many, but the result didn’t match the energy. Even though the Blues ended up losing to SAC, the bustling enthusiasm around the Oval never wavered, and everyone still had a great time.

On the soccer pitch, U16 A soccer had a tough match against SMCS. Even with only 10 men, UCC had the better share of possession and chances created but couldn’t find the net, ending in a 1-0 loss to SMCS. For Varsity soccer, the matchup was the same, but the Blues flipped the script with a dominant performance. We came out buzzing with a 6-2 W, as Nikhil Basra and Aiden Morrison both had strong performances scoring braces for the team. Beyond football, an alumni tennis tournament was underway on the outdoor courts, while Varsity volleyball clinched a clean-sweep victory against St.Mike’s in the Lett Gym.

A-Day wasn’t just about commemorating athletics. Just steps away from our fields, a vibrant energy pulsed under the tents on the Avenue and around campus. Visitors explored a bustling marketplace featuring creative student-led coding clubs, interactive outdoor education booths, and popular local vendors like Farm Girl Cereal and the Jon Wookey market (‘08). Families and alumni also connected over a variety of fun activities, from bidding on community experiences at the silent auction to snapping memories in the festive photo booths. Even the dunk tank, which caused some unexpected plunges for a few unlucky teachers, still brought us together in shared laughter as a united community.

This brilliant array of activities and interactive booths showed that Association Day is far more than just a day of sports. Whether competing on the field, cheering from the sidelines, or catching up with an old friend, Association Day is a testament to the strength and diversity shared by our community, all bleeding the same blue. So no matter what your interests or passions are, you’ll never walk alone.
