All That you Have is your Soul – Tracy Chapman (Tracy Chapman speaks about poverty and justice and creates something beautiful out of what is wrong in our world and in doing so calls us to care more deeply about others. Her work was influential to me when I was younger and first figuring out that there was more in the world than my own experience of privilege.
2. He Stopped Loving Her Today – George Jones (look, I lived in the north for a long time – I love country – judge me if you will, I really love country – this is one of my many country favourites.
3. River – Joni Mitchell (I actually love Bruce Springsteen’s The River too). She’s Canadian, she’s so awesome, her voice is ridiculous.
