Artist Showcase: Takoda Kemp

Hannibal de Pencier

Q: Who are your influences?

A: Uh… I’d probably say anyone who makes any music. Ya know?  Everything can contribute to what you try to make.

Q: How long have you been making beats?

A:Well… last March I happened across an unlocked copy of Ableton in an unmarked USB…

Q: So this is your first project

A: I like to think that I try.  I can’t really call this a project as much as I can call it just a collective that sounds vaguely not like garbage.  This is just a collection of those vaguely not like garbage loops.

Q: So where do you look for samples?

A: Usually if I find a sample that I like it turns out to be trash because i like the sample more than whatever i did with it.  I try to take samples that i don’t have as much a connection too so that I don’t instantly criticize my work.

Q: And I understand you made the cover art too?

A: Ya in two minutes.

Q: Is there anything you want to say to the TBAW audience?

A: TBAW begged me to post this.  I’m really not tryna plug my beats.  Pretend that whatever you hear was made by some one else.
