UCC Football

The Varsity Football team completed their training this past Friday (September the 16 th ) with a 14-7 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas from London, Ontario. It was nail bitting game that came down to great defence play. For the Blues second year player Jamie Wilson, scored his first touchdown of the season on a 50 yard and second year linebacker Trevor Hutcherson (Blue Army General) scored a 40 yard pick six, looking like Luke Keuchly! The Blues are back in action this Saturday, September the 24 th at A-Day in a rematch of the 2015 CISAA championship game. Kickoff is at 2:30pm, so make sure you come out to watch or watch it through the A-Day live stream.

The Junior Varsity football will be playing on Saturday, September 24 th at A-Day against TCS. Kickoff is at 10:30am, so make sure you catch this game! With a lot of excited players, both veterans and rookies, they are looking to start the season off right!

NYJ 37 BUF 31

The Bills were favoured by 0.5 to win this Thursday night game at home. In a rematch of the last season week 17 match where Buffalo knocked the Jets out of the playoffs, this match was different. Revis Island got torched early in the game on a long pass, however the Jets offence came back firing. Ryan Fitzpatrick had his best career game against a Rex Ryan coached Defence and both Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker had over 100 receiving yards. The Bills had the lead after a scoop and score in the third quarter. However, they were unable to generate points after that. On Friday, the Bills fired their offensive coordinator and appointed assistant head coach/RB coach as the new OC.

Cleveland had their extra point blocked and returned for a score of two points by Baltimore, but were still leading 20- 2. Everything went downhill from there as they could not score for the rest of the game and Baltimore walked out with a 25-20 win.

Ten 16 Hou 15

KC 12 Hou 19

Mia 24 Pats 31

The Patriots jumped to an early 21-0 lead behind the great play of Jimmy Garoppolo, going 18/27 with 234 yards and 3 touchdown. However, a big hit by Kiko Alonso at ___ in the second quarter knocked the starting QB out of the game. This sparked a comeback from the Dolphins, and changed the gameplan of the Patriots, from pass heavy to conservative and relying on Blount Force Trauma to spearhead the offence. A missed field goal by Stephen Gostkowski, gave the dolphins a chance for one more drive with no timeouts with roughly a minute left. A key defensive interception on fourth down moves the Pats to 2-0, and the Dolphins to 0-2. The Patriots will have a tough week 3 and 4, with a rookie QB under center against two very good front sevens (Hou and Buf)

NO 13 NYG 16

CIn 16 Pit 24

Dal 27 Was 23

TB 7 ARI 40

Sea 3 LA 9

The LA Rams won their first regular season home game in 22 years, in a defensive battle against the Seattle Seahawks. Picked by many to get blown out after that week one blowout by the 49ers the Ram defence took it to another level in this game. With a packed stadium, the Rams will enjoy great home field advantage this year.

IND 20 Den 34

ATL 35 OAK 20

JAX 14 SD 38

San Diego shocked a lot of people with this victory, Phillip Rivers played like an MVP and Jacksonville regressed from their play in week 1.

GB 14 Min 17

The Vikings defence proved that they are the truth. Beating Aaron Rodgers without Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson (torn meniscus). Erik Kendricks is a beast of a linebacker and I look forward to seeing the Vikings persevere through this hard times and wish them the best of luck. Stefon Diggs played very well, displayed a great connection with Sam Bradford.

PHI 29 Chi 14
