I Want You (She’s So Heavy) – The Beatles
Everyone knows this photo. It’s probably the most famous album cover of all time, and for good reason (for what it’s worth, this bad boy marinates in my Top 3).
The longest song on the Abbey Road, and the second longest song in the Beatle’s catalog, “I Want You” acts as a rock-hard centerpiece to a 47 minute, 23 second journey through emotion, space and time. The song itself is a blues piece, with a hard rock edge. In fact, this tune is said to have created “doom metal,” and with its heavy lyrical content, I’m not surprised. The song’s words span 14 words only, which successfully portrays the zombie-like state to which men are sometimes reduced when they are “in love.”
Choice bit of calico, this tune is.
Here’s a mesmerizing cover.
