The Blue and White (TBAW.ca), UCC’s student-led online publication, is entering a defining chapter in its storied history. What began as a modest undertaking in 2008 has blossomed into the main mode of creative expression for student voices. Our team of editors, columnists, writers, photographers and social media managers produce more than 60 articles each school year with a penchant for collaboration and storytelling.

In 2025, we celebrate 17 years of student journalism. And yet, we don’t want to stand still. The world is evolving, and so should we. This year, we plan to expand our podcast productions, while also producing more video editorials and interactive content to immerse our readers in life on campus. We want to capture moments, voices and perspectives that shape our community every day.

We also want to go beyond purely student voices by inviting teachers, staff and alumni to join the conversation. In doing so, we can bring in additional perspectives that spark meaningful dialogue.

What about AI?

We know AI is a hot topic and especially when it comes to journalism. We love our human-generated perspectives, but we also want to understand how other schools are approaching AI in their publications. In this regard, we have a session planned with our peer schools to share perspectives and plans for the future.

While TBAW is proud of its legacy, we also want to embrace the future of journalism. We welcome you to read, to contribute, and to get involved!
