On November 28, at the Manucha & Bellamy Studio Theatre,
As an adaptation of “Everyman”, one of the first plays in the english language, the play “Everybody” explores themes such as Mortality, Connection, and Materialism.
Now, In this play, a character named Everybody receives a summons from a character named “Death” and must choose someone to accompany them on their journey to the afterlife.
In a quest to find companionship on their impending journey, “Everybody” turns to various figures representing different aspects of life: Friendship, Family, Love, Beauty, and more. Each character is initially eager to accompany “Everybody,” but as Death’s presence becomes larger, their eagerness begin to waver. Material possessions, social status, and relationships prove brief and ultimately inadequate in the face of death.
As “Everybody” confronts the harsh reality of their situation, they come to realize that only Love remains. Love strips away the illusions and distractions of worldly life, revealing the true nature of existence. Through this experience, “Everybody” learns the value of genuine human connection and the importance of living a life with meaning and purpose.
This play includes a lot of funny moments, and I recommend it highly to those who have the chance.
