Last Friday on November 1st, the UCC Board of Stewards worked tirelessly to bring a night that won’t be forgotten for the year 11 and 12s. The theme for the dance is inspired by the Hollywood red-carpet that one would walk for award ceremonies such as the Oscars.
Prior to the dance however, there was some controversy and fierce debate on what the theme should be. From anonymous sources that shall continue to stay anonymous, the big debate in the Board of Stewards’ meeting was on whether the theme should be halloween, beach party, or the red-carpet. But ultimately, the Stewards’ decided to go with the classic red-carpet Hollywood theme.
At the dance, one common complaint that was forwarded was the “bad music”. Throughout the night, songs such as Astronaut in the Ocean by Masked Wolf and other tik tok songs were played. Unfortunately according to an anonymous year 12 attendee, “we could not get jiggy to these lackluster tracks.” One year 11 disagrees, stating “although the song choices could have been improved, the superb mixing and reverbing done by the DJ made for an excellent night!”
Overall, although there were mixed conclusions regarding the night, it was an important event for the year 11s and 12s to bond and develop community. It also was a testament to the success of the strict UCC social policies, that despite no drugs or alcohol consumed, most people had a blast!
Until next time, readers.
