Nations and individuals are constantly at a disagreement. Whether it’s about money, assets, or personal and global issues; nonetheless, we are always at a dispute with each other on a micro or macro scale.
First, it is important to recognize that achieving global harmony is a complex task. There are a myriad of factors that contribute to conflict and division between individuals and nations, including political, economic, cultural and social differences. The solution to this problem must therefore be equally complex and nuanced.
A possible starting point is to understand that people are still people and that we are very similar. In my own life, I have found that the more I learn about similarities between all of us humans, the more I can empathize with people who seem different from me. The ability to empathize with people with different points of view may involve asking for perspective. Which also means being open to listening actively to others and learning from their experiences and perspectives.
Next, to reach such a distant goal, it is important to recognize the role systemic inequality and oppression play in perpetuating conflict and division. Be it racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other form of discrimination, these issues must be addressed head-on if true harmony and equality for all human beings is to be achieved. This includes advocating for political change, supporting marginalized communities, or simply being more mindful of our own prejudices and privileges.
Now that we’ve reached the goal on the micro scale, let’s look at it on a macro scale. An important factor in promoting global harmony is the need for effective communication and diplomacy. Too often conflicts arise simply because individuals and countries are unable to communicate their needs and concerns effectively. These conflicts can lead to misunderstandings, resentment, and even violence. By prioritizing communication and investing in diplomacy, we can work towards building stronger and constructive relationships between nations and individuals.
In summary, the road to global harmony is long and difficult, but not impossible. By prioritizing empathy, communication and equality, we can work towards a world where all nations and individuals can coexist peacefully and prosper together. It is up to each of us to take action to reach this goal, and I am optimistic that with dedication and perseverance we can achieve it.
